muscle activation techniques (MAT)®

what is mat?

SMART Golf & Fitness Instruction is proud to offer Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)® sessions from Bill Busch, our Certified MAT® Rx Full Body Specialist. Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)® is a powerful muscular assessment tool that analyzes and corrects muscular imbalances. MAT focuses on the cause of the imbalance by testing, correcting, and maintaining muscle contractile efficiency. We believe that flexibility is a derivative of strength, and that muscle tightness is secondary to muscle weakness.

MAT includes 77 Range of Motion Exams and 214 Muscle Tests that help practitioners identify which muscles are not “firing”. Once the cause for the discomfort and impaired mobility is identified, MAT practitioners begin a series of muscle tests in an established process and work to “reactivate” the affected muscles.

why choose mat?

The Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)® methods are rooted in science, anatomy, and client outcomes. As practitioners of methods designed to relieve pain and improve mobility, we all share the same goal. We aim to reduce our clients’ pain and risk of injury so that they can move more comfortably and actively. As clients experiencing pain and restricted movement, we want a solution that works, we don’t want a quick fix with temporary relief.

The methods used in MAT help the muscles hold the bones in alignment, which leads to improved mobility and reduced pain. MAT is the only method that improves muscle contractile efficiency. Visit the MAT website to learn more.

Still not sure if Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)® is for you? Contact Bill at SMART Golf & Fitness Instruction can be beneficial to your fitness training and overall health and wellness. Over time, stress, trauma, and overuse of our muscles causes them to wear down and diminishes the communication between the nervous system and the muscular system. MAT® differentiates itself from other techniques because it never attempts to directly lengthen or change the muscle by stretching, heating, kneading, or foam rolling. MAT® is not trying to relax the muscle, but instead tries to activate the muscle, so that your body is better prepared to handle the forces that come from exercise and every day movements. Visit the MAT website to learn more.

If you want to live and move more freely, a Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)® session could be the answer. If you want to book a session, you can email Bill or enter your details in the contact form.
